GOV. UDOM ADVOCATES SOUND ECONOMIC FOUNDATION FOR SUSTENANCE OF DEMOCRACY

GOV. UDOM ADVOCATES SOUND ECONOMIC FOUNDATION FOR SUSTENANCE OF DEMOCRACY- Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has again spoken of the need for Akwa Ibom people to rise above partisanship and lay sound economic foundation that would sustain democratic growth to chart a future for the teeming youths in the state and country at large.


Governor Emmanuel stated this at the January edition of Government House monthly prayer meeting held at The Latter House Chapel, Governor's Lodge, Uyo.
He said :"God's presence abound every where in the state" and attributed the serenity as well as peace experienced in the state to fervent prayers offered by men of God.

Governor Emmanuel called on the people to close ranks, work together in peace and harmony for the overall development of the state and particularly thanked President Mohammadu Buhari for establishing the 2 Brigade Command in Uyo announcing that approval for establishment of Command Secondary School as well as Special Protection Unit School in the state has been granted by the President.

The Governor noted that the dry season has enhanced development of infrastructure as new roads have been opened for construction despite the paucity of funds occasioned by the prevailing economic recession.
He gave assurance that his administration would continue to deliver on its five point agenda despite distractions and political blackmails from dissenting voices.
While calling on all arms of government to work as a team to achieve it set goals, Governor Emmanuel stated that with diligent service, no challenge is insurmountable and announced that a covenant prayer meeting to commit the state to God would be held in the first Week of every month.

He expressed appreciation to the security Chiefs for the dexterity exhibited in combating criminality and urged the people to always volunteer information to security operative to enable them sustain the attained feat of keeping crimes at bay.

In an exhortation, Prelate Isaiah Isong who culled his sermon from the Book of Joshua chapter 24 verses 1-18, urged the people to resolve to serve God diligently and submit to the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Prelate Isong stated that Akwa Ibom, a state named after God, should flourish and pleaded with agents of mischief to steer away from causing disaffection but seek God in absolute humility.

The service which was attended by Deputy Governor Mr Mosses Ekpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon Onofiok Luke, members of the State Executive Council, Political Stakeholders, Aides to the Governor and Senior Citizens of the state, featured prayers for the state, Legislature, Judiciary and the country..
